Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO, is one of those things that so many of us, aren’t quite sure how it works. SEO, Search Engine Optimastion is a tool used to gain Google’s attention. Without going deep into the analytics, it’s one of, if not the most important, ways of ensuring your website is found when someone is searching.

We do this by creating SEO friendly content. This can include everything to do with the writing and structuring of content on your website.

Site Audit

Before we start any work, we can provide you with a site audit.

There are three key factors we look at during an SEO audit:

  • Back-end features such as hosting and indexing
  • Front-end elements such as content, keywords, and metadata
  • Link quality and outside references

Let’s break it down.

So, where do we start? Keyword research is one of the first steps in SEO strategy.

Keyword Research: We complete keyword research before we start writing. We focus on keywords for which a certain amount of search volume already exists – in other words, we write topics (or find keyword niches!) that people are already searching for information about.

Keyword Optimisation: We understand where and how to use keywords in content for maximum searchability.

Content Structure: We’ll ensure the content on your website will be organised in a logical way. This is not only good for SEO, but it also helps visitors on your site to find related content easily. (The longer they stay on your site, the better.) This relates to your ‘bounce rate’ score.

Whilst we believe in leading not following our competitors, it’s handy to keep up with what they’re doing. We offer competitor research so that we can benchmark where your business is situated in the digital market. You may also have a competitor in mind that you’d like to stand out from, and we can work out how to do that for your business. We can outrank your competition for their keywords, so that you can stay ahead.

Metadata, what is it?

Metadata gives information about the data it represents. Every webpage has a number of metadata fields:

  • Page Title
  • Page Description

We’ll manually create this content for accuracy on each page of your website.

SEO content can include any of the following – which we can assist with:

  • Product Pages – These are the most important when using a retail e-commerce site, such as Shopify or Woocommerce. We can ensure you’re product descriptions and content is optimised.
  • Blog Posts – Blogging is one of the easiest ways to create an ongoing stream of effective SEO content. Blog posts are engaging and more likely to attract links than product pages, so they can be a great way to build some authority for your site. Blogging once a month is a great way of keeping your SEO healthy which we can write for you.
  • Videos – There are fewer videos on the web than pages of text; consequently, it can be easier to rank on the first page for a competitive keyword by creating a video instead of an article. We can help and suggest ideas for video that we can use for your website.
  • Links – Outbound links are links that point to other domains from your site. When you link out to related credited domains, it helps the search engine to understand your niche and increase the trust and quality of your site. We’ll use credited outbound links to increate your SEO reach.
  • Images– We’ll ensure photos, videos and infographics are correctly labelled, ALT tagged and resized.

These are just some of the basic types of SEO content, but we don’t let this list limit us – there are many possibilities we can do to boost your SEO strategy.

We work with a lot of small businesses that need to take the next step in their digital marketing presence. SEO is one of the best tools to increase website visits and drive sales, organically. Google is always changing and updating their algorithm, so it’s important to stay on top of these changes to ensure maximum search reach. Gone are the days of keyword stuffing, and overall good quality SEO content will always prevail.
